Prayer Group
We are committed to praying as a local church, as a wider circuit and as part of the world wide church. We would like to encourage you to pray with us at certain times and on certain themes, as well as on any issues personal to you.
We will attempt to pray at 8am and 8pm on Monday on the issues that are posted here. The focus of these is changed monthly but they will always be updated as particular needs arise.
“Where two or three are gathered together to pray …”
Prayer topics for July:
The Wider World
Lord God we pray for those involved in conflicts throughout the world.
We pray for all the victims, whether combatants or civilians and especially for the children who are growing up knowing no other way of life
Lord God, we ask that those in positions of power and influence may look for ways to find peaceful solutions and be open to understand the significance of poverty, injustice and inequality in fueling conflict.
Amen
Our Local Community
Lord, we pray for all parents and children as this time of holidays approaches. We ask that it may be a time of relaxation and enjoyment and we also ask for the safety of children as they are out and about in our community. May all those involved in organising holiday activities be aware of your care and protection and may they be able to demonstrate your love to children, parents and carers.
We bring before you all those in our communities who are ill, both physically and mentally, and those who are struggling with bereavment in any form. We pray for their healing in body, mind or spirit and that they may know you are close to them and that others care for them.
We pray also for all involved in the health service in this area and for those who are part of other caring services in the community, either professionally or on a voluntary basis.
Amen
Our Friends and Families
Think of those people close to you. Picture their faces and bring them before God, naming the needs they have. Be confident that he will meet these needs, although this may not be at the time or in the way that you expect.
Think also of anyone less well know to you but of whose needs you are aware. Pray that God will come close to them and that they will find support from others.
